Seven weeks after a clean mammogram in December of 2018, Fitz found a lump in her left breast and was quickly diagnosed with breast cancer. She was instantly tossed into 15 months of chemotherapy, 33 rounds of radiation, and several surgeries. Despite being deathly ill, Fitz continued touring the country as a race announcer, making the best of a bad situation. Her tale of triumph which includes a million twists and turns, can be read in her memoir: My Noisy Cancer Comeback: Running at the Mouth, While Running for My Life. Released in October of 2018.

On September 11, 1961, Terry Jennings landed in the United States with her family after a short flight from Cuba. Their only possessions were $50 and one suitcase each. Her family, including her father, who had been jailed during the Bay of Pigs invasion, was now in a free country.
On September 12, Terry found herself enrolled in seventh grade, drowning in a sea of English she didn’t understand.
Today, Terri has written over 16 books and joins me to share her story.
